I read a few negative reviews of this book and I disagree. I think this is the best one so far. I tried to read the last one where she’s traveling with a little girl in the woods, and I didn’t even finish it. I liked everything about how the story builds on the ship, the history and connection with Japan, and the emotions that came thru this novel where before I didn’t connect with Mary or Sherlock.
I didn’t like this book. Usually when there is a alternate reality its past/present, but in this novel she is almost schizo. Very strange to imagine a family life but her real life was the really exciting part. I guess it was supposed to show that women in the 60’s were just starting to be in control of the lives.
This book was like one long acid trip. Very confusing, everyone is daydreaming about past events and you don’t know if what happens is in the present or the past.
Thank you to Penguin/Signet Romance and netgalley for this arc.
This is the first time I read this series and I’m going to check out the rest of the books. I thought these were young adult books but there are so very hot love scenes! Loved the fast pace, steampunk elements, fighting, and mythology of the story.
At first, I was confused by this book, and didn’t know if it made sense. Im happy I stuck with it. This book will affect your thinking. Makes you reevaluate decisions you made or told yourself someone made for you. That is the best kind of book to me. Challenges you
Very sweet, a little too saccharine for me. Maybe for christian/ you adults.
This is a book for book lovers if I ever said that before then this time I really mean it. Paul was a great character to learn from and grow with thru the book. Loved learning about publishing and reading about someone being obsessed with books just as much as me!
Thanks Bookouture and netgalley for arc
Perfect historical fiction mixed with present day. I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed this book. It had just the right mix of emotions, love scenes, history, and atmosphere. I gobbled it up over the afternoon and night. Definitely want to read this author again. Debbie Rix found a unique part of history to explore, and it was just right.
This book really amazed me because you don’t realize how invested you are becoming in the book until you just can’t go to sleep until you see what happens. Real life would happen a lot like it does in this book. When you are under stress, your mind is not your own. After hurricane katrina out house flooded for hurricane rita, and I know a lot of people that did things they regret. this book reminded me of that kind of a situation. They are under stress because of the war, but it was a lot of hard work after the hurricane also and the men had to go back to work, people were living with others that they don’t usually live with.
